One year!

Happy penpalling anniversary to me! :D Yes, it's been exactly one year since I started this wonderful hobby: snail mailing. Well, I've discovered the joys of sending and receiving letters way before (I had my very first penpal when I was 10, so 9 years ago), but I consider the beginning of my penpalling adventure being on 10th September 2011. It was on that day that I sent my first letter to a penpal I found outside of school. Unfortunately, I'm not in contact with that penpal anymore :(

I think that starting snail mailing was the best decision I've ever taken in my whole life. Really. I'm made for writing, not for talking. I tell way more to my penpals than to most of the people I know from real life (however hopeless it may sound). I had never met so many people whom I share so much with before. I found great friends. And in one year of active penpalling only, it has become more than a simple hobby. It's a way of life.

I LOVE YOU ALL, MY DEAR PENPALS!! <3

Well, time for pictures now ;) So here's my penpalling box:

It's not full (yet! ^^) I used to put also my stationery stuff in this box but as I keep getting more and more letters (and buying more and more paper!) I found another place to put it.
By the way, in case you were wondering, letters in the box are stored by date of receiving.

Now I put my stationery in this folder. It's not full yet, that means I can buy some more. hehe. I also have two letters sets which don't fit in the folder though.

I also have two other folders like this one. One is for letters waiting for a reply (hmm, yes, I have quite a lot at the moment! But I'm catching up fast ;) )

And the second one is for my envelopes (handmade ones + those who're already addressed):

And finally, here are all the letters I collected during this first year of snail mail. Yeah, that's quite a number! I haven't counted them though. Maybe I should? ;)

The only things I can wish for all the next penpalling years to come (I hope there will be maaaany, I don't plan on ever stopping writing letters anyways) are:

  • to keep my current lovely penpals
  • to build a deep and true friendship with my newest penpals
  • and possibly to find a penpal in my own country, but right now I'm happy with the penpals I have and don't need more.
Love, Tári

  1. It was quite funny to try and pick out the letters I had written you, I found 3 in that photo I think :) Happy Pen palling anniversary also! I don't even remember when I first began pen palling, but it was around Christmas 2009... so it's coming soon I guess!

  5. Thank you all! :)

Jennifer, I'm sure I received more than 3 letters from you. But the others must be hidden on the picture.

    Ksenia, I'm organized, really? I didn't know! :D

  6. You are right, snail mail is not a hobby, it's a way of life. I wish you much more letters and great penpal friendships. :)
